Woman followed from pharmacy and hijacked

A woman returning from a pharmacy in Bedfordview on May 11 was hijacked by men who she believes followed her from the pharmacy.

Ms Chere Page said at about 5.30pm, she had collected medicine from the pharmacy. While on her way home to Germiston, she realised she was being followed by the occupants of a white C200 Mercedes Benz Compressor.

“The car did not seem suspicious at first,” said Ms Page.

She had turned into her street in Wychwood and was waiting for her husband to open the gate when the Mercedes stopped stopped her and blocked her in.

“Two men emerged from the Mercedes. One walked to the driver’s side and cocked his gun,” said Ms Page.

She moved to the passenger seat when the suspect opened the door in an attempt to get into her vehicle.

“It was only then that I realised it is the same man who I had seen inside the pharmacy in Bedfordview. He was wearing a stone-coloured jacket and a red shirt,” she said.

Her husband, Mr Shannon Page, started shouting in an attempt to alert the neighbours. The men ordered Ms Page to hand over her car keys. The suspects pointed firearms at the couple and ordered them to keep quiet. They fled in Ms Page’s vehicle and the Mercedes.

Motorists visiting any shops are urged to always be aware of their surroundings when leaving and to make sure they alert someone if they suspect they are being followed.
