The children’s home director, Ms Narisha Govender said, “Schools, churches and businesses are urged to come and take the boxes to fill with second hand clothing, non-perishable food items, toiletries, stationery, medication and other things. The Jeppe High School for Girls’ grade 10 pupils encouraged the rest of the school to support the campaign,” said Ms Govender.
She added that the campaign will run for the month of May.
Ms Govender said the home provide care and shelter for 64 children between the ages of three and 18.
“The children are placed in our care by the regional courts as they have experienced physical, sexual or emotional abuse, or have been severely neglected or abandoned by their parents,” said Ms Govender.
