Mother hijacked outside child’s school in Edenvale

“We have reason to believe that the woman was followed from Bedfordview".

The Edenvale SAPS confirmed that a mother was the victim of a hijacking outside her child’s nursery school in Eastleigh yesterday afternoon.

“We have reason to believe that the woman was followed from Bedfordview,” acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts said.

He added that the suspects made off with the woman’s car as well as a large amount of money.

“We cannot say it enough times. Be alert when you are travelling with a large amount of money,” Lt Col Roberts said.

He advised that motorists should avoid withdrawing substantial amounts of money but if it is necessary to do so that they remain alert of their surroundings at all times.

“Consistently change your routes. If you are being followed rather drive to the nearest police station or busy area,” Lt Col Roberts said.

He also said suspects following a vehicle will do so at a distance.
