The Cleveland SAPS visited Hillcrest Primary School recently.

The purpose of the visit was to talk to the pupils about child safety.

The SAPS warned children against bullying and stealing. The visiting police officers also explained the impact such activities would have on the pupils’ lives.

“If you start stealing at a young age and you are not caught, you will grow up to become a criminal. Avoid such habits,” said the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashakane.

Children were also reminded to report abuse at school or at home.

“During the upcoming week, we will be visiting schools and doing surprise visits to increase police visibility in the community. By doing this, people will be more forthcoming to report crime,” said Const Mashakane.
