School guards tied up, laptops stolen

17 laptops were stolen from a private school in Kensington on July 6.

“According to the school’s security guard, he was in the guard room with his colleague when two suspects attacked them. They were armed with wheel spanners and screwdrivers. He tried to fight them but was overpowered,” said the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashakane.

The suspect then tied up the guards with electrical cords while they were lying on the floor.

One of the suspects guarded the security guards while his accomplice loaded the laptops into the car.

According to Const Mashakane, the suspects fled the scene with laptops valued at R75 000.

The guards were found by other guards reporting for duty and the SAPS was called to the scene.

No arrests have been made.
