Same police officer implicated in three alleged assault cases

When asked whether the officer was still on active duty following the allegations, Lt Col Roberts said yes.

The Edenvale SAPS confirmed this morning that internal investigative processes are underway, following reports that one police officer was involved in three separate cases of alleged police brutality.

The cases were reported in 2013, 2014 and earlier this year.

The acting spokesperson for the Edenvale SAPS, Lieutenant Colonel Robbie Roberts, said only one of the complainants in the three cases had formally laid a charge against the officer.

When asked whether the officer was still on active duty following the allegations, Lt Col Roberts said yes.

“At a station level, we do not have the power to suspend any members. The order would have to come from our provincial offices,” he said.
