Hijack victim dumped outside train station

The suspect ordered the driver to drive to an open field next to the Cleveland train station.

A man was hijacked in Malvern and dumped at a train station in Soweto on Thursday, July 9.

According to the Cleveland SAPS communications officer, Constable Mpho Mashakane, the victim parked his car in front of a café on Jules Street shortly after 2pm.

“As the victim exited the car, a man pointed a firearm at him and ordered him to get back into the car. The suspect ordered the driver to drive to an open field next to the Cleveland train station. Two other men arrived at the scene and assaulted the driver while he was still sitting in the car. The suspects ordered the victim out of the car and stole his two cellular phones, a wallet containing bank cards, an undisclosed amount of cash and a laptop,” said Const Mashakane.
