JCPZ to investigate Rhodes Park incident
She said this was in contravention of the use of the park and has necessitated the need for the organisers to urgently contact the events department to review the permission granted for the use of Rhodes Park.

Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo (JCPZ) is investigating non-compliance for an event it approved for Rhodes Park.
“The applicant at no point stated that there will be an entrance fee charged to participate, or that there will be alcohol available at the event,” said the department’s spokesperson, Mrs Jenny Moodley.
She said this was in contravention of the use of the park and has necessitated the need for the organisers to urgently contact the events department to review the permission granted for the use of Rhodes Park.
“The City of Johannesburg is committed to encouraging communities to participate in active sports and this is the reason that there are sport fields within public opens spaces.
“However, there is also a need for compliance and for organisers to be mindful of the needs of adjacent homeowners as well. The park rangers will vigilantly monitor the situation and ensure that there is no transgressions in this regard,” said Mrs Moodley.
City Parks and Zoo has also appealed to residents to call the rangers on 011 472-6539 to report loud music and illegal activities at Rhodes Park.
