
On Saturday morning a speed law enforcement special operation on Andries Pretorius Street in Edenvale yielded eight arrests.
The road users were charged with reckless and negligent driving on the 60km/h road.
The operation was commenced at 5am and ended at 11am.
The eight arrested drivers were detained at Edenvale police station and later released on R1 500 bail each.
They are expected to appear in the Edenvale Magistrate’s Court soon.
The highest speedster claimed that he was rushing to a cricket match.
He was in a Ford sedan when clocked at 106km/h.
The second highest was on a Truimph motor bike claiming that he was ride-testing the bike.
He was caught doing 104km/h.
Four drivers arrested registered speeds of between 100 and 102km/h and the rest were caught doing 97km/h.
