Residents arrest robbers

Police thanked the community for helping them arrest the robbers.

Yeoville residents apprehended two robbers on Tuesday, last week.

Yeoville SAPS spokesperson, Const Thabo Malatji said two men allegedly robbed a man on the corner of Fortesqure and Muller Street shortly after 9am.

“The man was walking home from church when they confronted him. They took his cellular phone and cash. As they were leaving the scene the man screamed, attracting the attention of community members,” he said.

Const Malatji said residents caught the suspects and called the police.

He said the two men were arrested and the stolen items were recovered.

Const Malatji thanked the community for their involvement in the arrest of the two men.

“We thank our community for the job well done. We urge members of the community to not take the law into their own hands but to call the police. Let us work together and fight crime in our community,” Const Malatji said.
