The Yeoville SAPS has urged parents to keep an eye on their children at all times.
This warning was issued after a 12-year-old girl was reportedly raped by a 26-year-old neighbour at a flat along Cavandish and Jolly streets.
The incident is believed to have taken place on Saturday, January 9, shortly after 5pm.
According to the Yeoville SAPS spokesperson, Constable Thabo Malatji, the mother noticed that the child was behaving strangely.
“The girl told her mother the man called her into his room and raped her. She said the man also threatened to kill her if she told anyone about the incident,” said Const Malatji.
He said the man was arrested after the mother opened a case.
“He will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court,” said Const Malatji.
