Suspect arrested for hijacking

The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

A man was arrested for allegedly hijacking a vehicle in Sebenza on February 18.

The EMPD’s spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Wilfred Kgasago, said two men hijacked a white Toyota Hilux double cab at about 7pm.

An EMPD Loss Control Unit member was joined by Rentrak vehicle tracking company personnel in pursuit of the hijacked vehicle.

“The Toyota Hilux was recovered at a Total filling station off the N12 freeway at the Ogies/Delmas turn-off. One suspect was found buying refreshments at the filling station. He was found in possession of an unlicensed 9mm pistol,” said Lt Col Kgasago.

The suspect was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
