Emergency services on high alert for possible flooding
DEMS officials are monitoring and assessing areas prone to flooding on hourly bases.

The Ekurhuleni Disaster and Emergency Management Services (DEMS) is on high alert following the heavy rains across the City.
Emergency Services and Disaster management teams have put together response plans including placing swift water rescue crew on standby for the duration of this period of rain.
Over the past week, the City has experienced continuous rainfall.
DEMS officials are monitoring and assessing areas prone to flooding on hourly bases.
Uninterrupted weather forecast with South African Weather Services (SAWS) is closely monitored for new developments.
In addition to this, the metro is involved with the provision of emergency shelters and relief aids to the communities affected by flooding.
Residents within the City are also advised to be on high alert more over those in the low lying areas.
Should there be any life threatening emergencies, they are advised to call the “Call Centre” on (011) 458 0911 or National emergency number 10177 or 107 in the event of flash floods
NOTE: Ensure that you have the emergency call centre numbers at all times and are saved on your telephone or cellular phone. Speak clearly on the phone when reporting an emergency. Provide the operators with all the necessary details required. Do not end the conversation until all questions are answered.
