LATEST: Edenvale car guard arrested for attempted rape

Edenvale girl (14) attacked on March 16, while returning home from extra lessons.

“An Edenvale car guard was arrested for attempted rape,” said Mrs Linda Mckenzie of the Edenvale City Improvement District (ECID).

A 14-year-old Edenvale school girl, who attends high school, was attacked on March 16 while on her way home.

She was walking to the Edenvale taxi rank on her way from extra lessons.

According to the girl’s father, she was attacked by a car guard who grabbed the girl and carried her into an “alley”.

The girl tried to fight back.

“She kicked, pushed, shoved and screamed to try and get away, ” said her dad.

The girl managed to escape, without injury, and was just sore from the “squeezing” (after the car guard grabbed her).

The attacker ran off when members of the community came to see what the commotion was about.

The girl was taken to the Edenvale SAPS where she received counselling, after community members phoned the police.

“The arrest took place on March 18, at a “tavern”, after Mamba Special Operations and the SAPS were alerted to the suspect’s location,” said Mrs McKenzie.

Once the attacker was arrested, he was found to have two previous convictions for acts of a similar nature.
