The Joburg East Cluster arrested 178 suspects from May 9 to May 18.
Arrested suspects committed crimes ranging from assault and attempted murder to car hijacking.
The arrests included three suspects arrested for rape, five arrested for armed robbery, 11 arrested for common assault, 17 for theft, one for attempted murder, 10 for driving under the influence, eight for possession of unlicensed firearms, eight for possession of drugs, five for fraud, eight for possession of suspected stolen property, six for hijacking, nine for drinking in public and one suspect was arrested for kidnapping.
The cluster comprises seven police stations which are Cleveland, Jeppe, Hillbrow, Rosebank, Parkview, Norwood and Yeoville SAPS.
“The suspects have appeared in different courts and some have paid their fines while others are out on bail and others remain in prison,” said Jeppe SAPS spokesperson, Warrant Officer Richard Munyayi.
