At the retirement home the SAPS members handed out blankets and muffins.
Members from the Edenvale SAPS also helped around the home, cleaning residents’ wheelchairs, windows and walls.
Head of social crime prevention, Sergeant Jacob Mashile, the officer who came up with the idea to help Edenhaven, said the SAPS groups assisting the elderly included Vispol, admin and the detectives.
The SAPS group included 20 members, who lent a hand at the retirement home, along with various members who cleaned windows, walls, the floor and wheelchairs.
“It’s about lending a helping hand and giving back to the community,” said Sgt Mashile.
“We want to bring the community members trust back in the police and unite the community,” he said.
