ECPF says farewell to Trolllip
"He was my mentor. I have always looked up to him,"
For Colonel Eddie Trollip the Edenvale Community Police Forum (ECPF) meeting held on held on July 27 was his last as the station commander of the Edenvale SAPS.
At the meeting Col Trollip gave his last Edenvale SAPS crime report for the month and provided statistics for arrests made by Edenvale SAPS for the month of July.
There had been 68 arrests, which included drug-related arrests, shoplifting and drunk driving.
Mrs Linda McKenzie, ECPF chairperson, thanked Col Trollip for the work he had done in and for the community.
“Edenvale has a strong community; the community has good, strong individuals,” said Col Trollip.
While speaking to the community members he said that the community must work together and not let groups or individuals allow infighting within it.
Col Trollip, who has been the Edenvale station commander for the past three years, added that the community support alongside the ECPF plays a big role in the fight against crime.
At the same time Mrs McKenzie introduced and welcomed Lieutenant-Colonel Robbie Roberts, who will be taking over as acting station commander for the Edenvale SAPS.
Lt-Col Roberts emphasised Col Trollip’s words about infighting in the community.
“Without the community we will fight a losing battle. We must prevent creating groups, fighting against one another as that is our biggest enemy,” said Lt-Col Roberts.
He said when the community fights it creates holes and opportunities for criminals to commit crimes.
“Let’s assist one another so that we can fight criminals, not one another,” said Lt-Col Roberts.
“By working together the community and Edenvale can become safe.”
“I have known Col Trollip since I was a constable when I was working under him. He was my mentor. I have always looked up to him. He has always been a positive person. One thing I learnt from him is to calm down and to take things from there,” said Lt-Col Roberts.
