Yeoville SAPS gets new communications officer

Capt Mabizela is looking forward to working with the community

The Yeoville SAPS has appointed a new communications officer, Captain Sifiso Mabizela.

Capt Mabizela took over from Constable Thabo Malatji.

Capt Mabizela started working for the SAPS four years ago and is a lawyer by profession.

“I studied Law at the University of KwaZulu-Natal,” said Capt Mabizela.

“I gained an interest in the communications industry a long time ago. I have been a public speaker all my life. I enjoy working with projects and the community. I am passionate about the SAPS and I felt my legal background will benefit the community and the SAPS,” said Capt Mabizela.

“I started serving my article of clerkship with the Legal Aid board in Lichtenburg Justice Centre, North West and later with Benoni Justice Centre in Ekurhuleni. I also worked at Modiga Attorneys and later practised on my own up until I received a calling to join the SAPS. I starting working at the Jabulani SAPS in 2012. I was later transferred to the Gauteng Provincial office,” said Capt Mabizela.

Capt Mabizela is also the chairperson for the Yeoville SAPS Men for Change executive committee.

“Men for Change is a forum within the SAPS aimed at eradicating gender-based violence, the utilisation of men as change agents in achieving gender transformation and meant to change social attitudes and stereotypical thinking of men and women within the service and community at large. It is in partner with Women’s Network, which has been well established within the police service,” said Capt Mabizela.
