A male passenger was killed after the truck he was travelling in crashed into the back of a stationary truck on the N3 north bound just after Van Buuren on ramp in Bedfordview this afternoon.

Another passenger and driver sustained serious injuries.

Rescue teams from both Bedfordview and Edenvale fire stations used specialised hydraulic rescue tools (Jaws of Life) to rescue the entrapped patients from the wreck.

Patients were transported to the Edenvale and Charlotte Maxeke hospitals for further medical treatment.
