Domestic workers invited to last MAD session

The next session of the MAD Domestic Watch programme will reveal details from previous interviews with convicted criminals.

Mrs Penny Steyn said the lesson will be presented by Mr Monty Abrahams.

“I consider him to be an insightful specialist in crime. He will speak on many aspects of the written handout [given to those in attendance],” she said.

Ms Steyn said as the festive season draws closer, incidents of crime also increase.

“Festive season is crime time, let’s get sharper and learn more about the modus operandi used by these insightful and calculating criminals. Crime prevention when we know what to expect is the only solution to the crime challenge – this lesson is imperative. All must attend,” said Mrs Steyn.

The session takes place on October 26 and will be the last one for the year.

On November 17, Mrs Steyn will host all domestic workers and gardeners who attended her lessons throughout the year for a certification gala event.

“The last chance to purchase tickets will be during the October lesson. I urge employers to please sponsor your staff members with R150 for this event to cover the vast expenses. Also, please allow them to attend. All employers are also invited to join their staff and share in the celebration of crime prevention,” said Mrs Steyn.

She said the intention of the event is to give recognition and show appreciation to the domestic workers and gardeners for their commitment to fighting crime and being the eyes and ears of the police,” said Mrs Steyn.

Invited guests on the day include Gauteng premier Mr David Makhura; Minister of Police, Mr Nathi Nhleko; Acting National Commissioner of Police, General Khomotso Phahlane.

Ward councillors from all relevant suburbs will also be present on the day.

The October session is scheduled to take place at the Bedfordview Methodist Church and will start at 2pm.
