Yeoville police officers arrested 40 suspects in connection with crimes including murder, attempted murder, armed robbery and rape from 22 to 28 November.
The suspects were arrested on the following charges:
- 1 for attempted rape
- 14 for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm
- 1 for common assault
- 2 for possession of suspected stolen property
- 8 for possession of drugs
- 1 for driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- 1 for the possession of housebreaking implements and theft out of a motor vehicle
- 8 for theft
- 3 for shoplifting
- 1 for child abuse.
“The suspects have appeared in court. Some have paid their fines while others are out on bail and others remain in prison while police investigations are continuing,” said the spokesperson for Yeoville Police Station, Captain Sifiso Mabizela.
