Nine nabbed for business break-in

JOBURG - Jeppe police arrested nine suspects for breaking into a business in Troyeville.

Jeppe police arrested nine suspects for breaking into a business in Troyeville on 2 January.

The security guard on duty alleged he was approached by a man who offered him a cigarette and told him he wanted to break into the workshop he was guarding.

Instead, the guard told his supervisor about the burglary plot. “The supervisor advised him to let them in and called the police. A little while later, nine men arrived in a Peugeot panel van with no registration plates. The van reversed into the workshop,” said Jeppe police spokesperson, Captain Richard Munyai.

While the suspects were allegedly loading fabric, jewellery and upholstery staple guns into the van, police pounced on them and arrested all nine of them. “Police confiscated 44 rolls of fabric,” said Munyai.

The suspects were detained at Jeppe Police Station and charged with breaking into a business.
