Golden Oldies help those in need
Over the past 11 years the Golden Oldies have raised more than R500 000, which has enabled them to help many deserving people.
The month of December saw the Modderfontein Golden Oldies hockey team donating to various deserving people and organisations.
Every year the team hosts a golf day to raise funds so that the team can assist people who need wheelchairs, medical assistance or provide financial help to families or organisations.
Some of the items donated during December to various groups included clothing, over 80 food hampers and funds.
The beneficiaries who received donations were:
- The Methodist Church in Bedfordview.
- The Gerald Fitzpatrick Home in Bertrams, a home for ladies who have no families and rely on a government pension.
- The fundraising effort of Beauty Esteem, which was held in support of three-year-old Monya van Wyk, who is suffering from Lymphoblastic Leukaemia.
The Golden Oldies strive to raise money through their annual golf days so that they can give back to groups and individuals as mentioned above.
Over the past 11 years the Golden Oldies have raised more than R500 000, which has enabled them to help many deserving people.
They plan to continue helping those in need in the future
