Young rapper aims to change the lives of others
"One of the biggest things which I have realised since becoming an artist is the amount of influence I have to change people's perspectives on life,"
Edenvale rapper Mr Propaganda Ndlovu aims to not only promote entertainment on the East Rand, he also wants to help they youth.
The Edenvale rapper has always had a interest in music and while growing up he took inspiration from his family, his friends, other artists and just followed his dream.
“While in grade 8 at Edenglen High School I became more serious about my music,” said Propaganda.
Propaganda said his music became known at school as more and more learners began to listen to it.
He said during his first year of high school he recorded his first song I’m Me.
“We actually had to walk from the school to OR Tambo to do the recording,” said Mr Tshepo Mataila, Propagandas manager and friend.
Propaganda said in 2015 he signed with the label Propaganda Regime, which led him to his first big gig with Coke Studios.
“I was surprised by the number of fans who attended, I really did not think I had that much support,” said Propaganda.
Even though Propaganda spends a large amount of his time following his childhood dream, he believes it is important to still make a difference in the life of the youth.
“As an artist I try set an example for younger children,” said Propaganda.
He said he has begun using the #nothingbutaG events to do this.
“#nothingbutaG was used for our launch party but since then we have decided to customise the event to be child friendly and to act as a platform to provide support to school children,” said Propaganda.
He said the events will have an entrance fee and 50 percent of the entrance fee will go back into education.
Propaganda said current challenges facing the learners are spoken about at the events.
He said the event is used to give back to education and to raise funds for education.
“One of the biggest things which I have realised since becoming an artist is the amount of influence I have to change people’s perspectives on life,” said Propaganda.
Through the #nothingbutaG event, Propaganda hopes to give learners the tools to make more mature decisions when dealing with home or school challenges.
Another event Propaganda said he will be promoting in the future includes the King of the Ring rap battles.
He said the event is currently in the audition phase but he hopes to give the youth and people who have raw talent the opportunity to show it.
“As a ‘Valelebrety’ (Edenvale celebrity) we are going to pioneer the entertainment industry of the East Rand,” said Propaganda.
