Pothole repaired after three years

OBSERVATORY– Residents are relieved that the pothole on St George's Street has been repaired.

The pothole on St George’s Street in Observatory has been repaired – after three years.

The pothole was worrying residents and they feared that their car tyres would be damaged.

Ward 118 councillor, Neuren Pietersen said it was clear that residents have had to put up with poor service delivery for so long. This, in turn, had created a desperate backlog in which the current administration was doing everything within its power to resolve, given the budget which was approved last year.

“This budget is barely adequate for current demands of service delivery. This can only be adjusted marginally at the end of February, after which extra resources will be allocated to the pressing demands of basic service delivery,” said Pietersen.

He added that the extra allocation of funds would result in potholes being repaired more timeously in Ward 118. “I want to appeal to residents to make submissions to the Integrated Development Plan to the Ward Committee and myself for the much-needed resurfacing of our roads.
