SAPS urges residents to remain vigilant

He said in the past weeks there we three residential robberies involving the elderly.

The Edenvale SAPS made 27 arrests during the week, between March 27 to April 2.

Nine people were arrested on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol – which contributed to the total of 27 people who were arrested.

The remaining arrests were for:

  •  Attempted burglary.
  •  Burglary.
  •  Corruption.
  •  Drug related activities.
  •  Residential robbery.
  •  Shoplifting.
  •  Theft and warrant of arrest.

Captain Jean Olckers, spokesperson of the Edenvale SAPS, said the SAPS is concerned about attacks on the elderly.

He said in the past weeks there we three residential robberies involving the elderly.

“We urge pensioners to stay alert and aware at home at all times. Report suspicious activities,” said Capt Olckers.

Capt Olckers said if anything seems suspicious or sounds suspicious, report it to 10111.

Another concern, according to Capt Olckers, is community members leaving valuables in their vehicles or unattended in shopping centres.

He encouraged residents to be alert and be aware of what happens around them.
