Modderfontein speakers compete in International Speech and Evaluation Contest

Both Ms Brown and Mr Rapetswane will progress to the second round

Three members of the Modderfontein Breakfast Club competed at the organisation’s International Speech and Evaluation Contest on March 25.

The contest is an annual competition which begins at club level and proceeds to international level.

Later this year the international event will be held in Vancouver.

At the event, Mr Ofhani Rapetswane kicked off the speeches and was followed by Ms Cheryl Brown and Mr Leonard Mashao.

Ms Brown took top honours with her speech about picking your bell.

Mr Rapetswane placed second, with his humorous speech about names.

In the evaluation contest, where the contestants evaluated a speech given by Nikki Quinn, Mr Rapetswane clinched top honours with his superb evaluation.

Ms Brown took second place in this contest.

Both Ms Brown and Mr Rapetswane will progress to the second round in both categories.

The second leg of the contest was held on April 3, where the two speakers competed against contestants from Kempton Park Club and Hatch Club.

At the time of going to print, the results from the April 3 competition were unknown. Should the members have performed well, they will then proceed to the Divisional contest, which will be held on April 24.
