Old Age Home pleads for donations

JOBURG - Old age home is pleading for donations to fix water leakage.

Avalon Home in Kensington is pleading for donations from local residents and businesses to fix a severe water leak at their property. According to ward 118 councillor Neuren Pietersen the cost to repair the leak is in the region of R 7000. “The NGO’s finances are already stretched and as we know water leaks only become costly,” said Pietersen.

Pietersen said he would like to make an appeal to the community if they could assist with alleviating this drain on their shallow finances. “The leaking water is going to the NGO’s water account,” said Pietersen.

Ferne Goodchild who has been a resident for over 17 years at the home said it is not the first time that they are experiencing this problem. “This is a huge problem for us as residents. Everyone is complaining about it and we can’t afford to fix it. We had something similar to this last year and the people [business] people helped us,” said Goodchild.

Goodchild said they would appreciate the help from the community as they are an NGO.
