Nine men were arrested during the early hours of the morning on June 5 for business robbery.
The arrest took place in Chloorkop.Sebenza SAPS communications officer, Sergeant Sharon Tsotsotso, said Sebenza SAPS members were patrolling along Zuurfontein Road when they spotted two suspicious vehicles.
“Sergeant Carnatius Berresh and Constable Tiyane Pakula were patrolling when they saw a BMW and a bakkie fully loaded with boxes. When they were instructed to stop, the drivers sped off,” said Tsotsotso.
She said the police officers drove around the area, looking for the suspects, and spotted the vehicles at a scrap yard in Chloorkop.
“The members went inside and found more people. Some of them ran away when they saw the police but the police managed to arrest nine men. We suspect the goods were stolen from one of the businesses in Sebenza but investigations are continuing,” she said.
Some of the goods recovered include laptops, computers, graphics cards and laptop bags.
Tsotsotso said the men were arrested and charged with possession of suspected stolen goods and will appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.
