Jeppe SAPS arrested 48 suspects between July 19 and 26 in relation to different crimes committed.
Spokesman for the station Captain Richard Munyai said the police station worked extremely hard in association with the Jeppe patrol team to make all the arrests.
“Jeppe SAPS officers praise the Joburg East community for tipping off the police when they notice anything that is against the law or suspicious,” said Munyai.
The arrests were as follows:
- Three for assault common.
- One for fraud.
- One for damage to property.
- One for possession of unlicensed firearms.
- Five for possession of stolen goods and drugs.
- One for rape.
- Two suspects were arrested for murder.
- Three for shoplifting.
- Three for common robbery and assault common.
- One for house robbery.
- Two for robbery.
- Three for drunk and driving, reckless and negligent.
- Two illegal immigrants.
- One for impersonating a police officer.
- One for robbery and attempted murder.
- One for escaping from custody.
- One for trespassing.
- 14 for assault to do grievous bodily harm.
- Two for pointing firearm.
Munyai said most of the suspects appeared at Jeppe Magistrate’s Court.
“Some of them paid fines and bail while others remain in police custody due to further investigations. The police will continue playing its role by arresting those who are caught acting against the law,” he said.
