At seven months, Natalie Hinton was diagnosed with a chronic lung disease called Cystic Fibrosis which also affects other organs such as the pancreas and the digestive system. During the 30-Day Challenge, members of the gym were required to do 100 burpees and donate money towards the association.
Jordan Sparrow, social media co-ordinator and facilities administrator for CrossFit 1610 said the gym saw Natalie’s post on Facebook about needing funds for her treatment and decided to pitch in.

“Natalie is one of our members and when we came across her Facebook post, we knew we had to do something. We want to raise R4 000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Association. We have challenged our members to donate and to do 100 burpees every morning and every afternoon,” said Jordan.
The challenge started at the beginning of August and today (August 30) will be the final day to raise the funds. The gym will double whatever amount the members have made. The coach will also do 1 000 burpees on August 30 which will take her about two hours to complete.
Jordan said the money will then be handed over to Natalie.
