Constable Mulalo Khangale of Cleveland SAPS was recently acknowledged for his good work.
Khangale was rewarded for making a successful arrest.
He received a certificate from Johannesburg East SAPS Cluster acting commander Brigadier Azwinndini Nengovhela for arresting a suspect who was in possession of an unlicensed firearm.
Spokesperson for Jeppe SAPS Capt Richard Munyai said Khangale received a tip-off about a man who was in possession of a firearm at Denver informal settlement on September 11.
“He called for backup and proceeded to the address. Upon arrival police identified the suspect and searched him,” said Munyai.
A 9mm pistol and two live rounds of ammunition were found in his possession.
“The 31-year-old suspect was arrested and charged with possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition,” he said.
Nengovhela applauded the police officer. “I hope Khangale will continue to make good arrests. Other police officers will follow suit and make this cluster a safe one for our community,” said Nengovhela.
