Don’t fear, BDI is here

"BDI are costume builders extraordinaires"

Community members attending this year’s Edenvale City Improvement District’s Festival of Lights can look forward to entertainment from BDI.

Standing above the crowds in a variety of oversized handmade puppets or innovative outfits, BDI is set to wow both adults and children.

The troupe, formed in 1995, have built up a dedicated following.

It has performed all over SA including Oppikoppi, the Bushfire Festival and overseas.

“The group is a random collective of artists that gather to entertain and amaze,” said owner Bron Krige.

Bron said the costumes and creations of crazy creatures and strange monsters are giant, radical, expressionist, visually spectacular and larger than life.

“BDI is costume builders extraordinaire and their creations must be seen to be truly enjoyed,” said Katy Young, public relations officer and events co-ordinator for ECID.

She said the costumed act incorporates stilt walking, juggling and unicycles.

Bron said it takes months to make and use clever manipulation and synchronization to bring these unique characters to life.

From fabulous fish and peculiar puppets to magical mind-blowing masks be sure not to miss them in van Riebeeck Avenue on November 25.
