Learners get the nitty gritty on abuse

Wedge Gardens’ staff presented a preventative programme to the learners.

Wedge Gardens’ staff presented a preventative programme to the Grade Seven learners at Gustav Preller Primary School in Roodepoort on September 28.

Adél Grobbelaar, the head of the Rand Aid Association substance abuse treatment centre, said it formed part of learners’ life orientation subject.

“The programme was educational and focused on the different classifications of drugs and the consequences of abuse. We divided learners into smaller groups to give shy children an opportunity to ask questions,” said Adél.

This is the second year that Wedge Gardens centre has presented the programme to the school’s Grade Seven learners.
