
City of Johannesburg transport department presented its fourth quarterly report during the council meeting on September 28.
The report found that:
• A 16,1km road is developed along Louis Botha Avenue and Katherine Drive for the Rea Vaya phase 1C, for an efficient-running bus service.
• The completion of the new pedestrian and bus bridge over the M1 at Lees Street will make it safer for pedestrians who need to walk across.
• The Sandton transport loop is at 97 per cent completion. This will enable motorists to travel safely and arrive at their destinations on time.
• Over 100 road safety and education programmes were implemented to help reduce accidents on the road.
• To empower people 110 previously disadvantaged taxi operators completed a six-month course at the Wits School of Business.
