Malvern community forum revived
“We hope that all residents will join us on this great journey and adventure in ensuring a better environment for our children to live in."

The Malvern Community Forum was relaunched in October at a meeting held at the Malvern Methodist Church.
The forum is not new to the community. It used to operate several years ago.

“We are reviving the forum because when it was active, it achieved a lot of things in the community. We want to restore our community,” said spokesperson Mike Spadino.
The forum is a voluntary non-profit, non-political and non-theological organisation which consists of residents, tenants and business owners from Malvern.

The forum currently has an interim committee that will be creating awareness for people to join.
“The interim committee will ensure that the process is in place for the forum to hold an elective conference in February 2018,” said Spadino.
The members of the interim committee are Nomvula Sidi (chairperson), Rose Monarong (secretary), Aloisi Mnisi (deputy secretary), Mike Spadino (spokesperson/PRO) and two additional members, Ruth Jacobs and Happy Dlada.

“We hope that all residents will join us on this great journey and adventure in ensuring a better environment for our children to live in,” said Spadino.
Ward councillors for wards 65 and 118, Lindani Zulu and Neuren Pietersen, attended the relaunch.
“I’m looking forward to working with the forum. The community should support such forums because they provide a platform to address service delivery issues and everything else that affects the community,” said Pietersen.

He also said he would be happy to see the forum become the driving force behind the A Re Sebetseng clean-up campaign in the Malvern area.
“The forum can inspire change and a clean community. They can make Malvern a great community,” said Pietersen.
“The forum is pleased to receive support from the councillors in the area and hope this is the beginning of a beautiful relationship,” said Spadino.
He said in the coming months, until the elections, the interim committee will be busy with membership, the forum’s constitution and preparing elections.
“We want to be ready when elections come up in February and we want to ensure that there is a functional forum,” said Spadino.
