Skeletal remains found at abandoned Kensington house
“At first we thought it was a doll. We then looked closer we discovered that it is a human skull."
Cleveland SAPS opened an inquest docket after skeletal remains were found at an abandoned house on Milner Crescent in Kensington on November 6.
A security guard from Imvuza Security Company, Thembelani Zindlovu, said he discovered the remains after inspecting the property with his colleague Sabelo Maselesele.

“At first we thought it was a doll. We then looked closer and discovered that it was a human skull. We then called the police,” he said.
Spokesperson for Cleveland Police Station, Captain Johan Jordaan, said the police’s forensic experts removed the skeletal remains from the property.
“Anthropological tests will be done to determine the cause of the death. At this stage it is not known how the remains got inside the abandoned house. The gender is unknown,” he said.
Jordaan said it looked as if the remains had been in the house for a long time.
“The house was used as a police residential house for many years. It now belongs to the Department of Public Works and the department took it over more than two years ago. We do not expect to find more remains.
“The house was standing empty for a long time and many vagrants lived in the house and vandalised the property.
“Public works later placed guards at the house to protect it from further vandalisation,” said Jordaan.
