Police suspect man was kidnapped

JOBURG – It is alleged that the men started to beat him, forced him inside a VW Kombi and drove off with him.

Jeppe SAPS is searching for a missing person who they believe could be the victim of a kidnapping.

Spokesperson for the station, Captain Richard Munyai, said 26-year-old Onyebuchi Okoh disappeared from Maritzburg and Fawcus streets in Jeppestown on October 24.

“The sister of the victim alleged that she received a phone call from her brother telling her that there were people who came to his workplace asking for his blue Volkswagen Polo’s papers,” he said.

It is alleged that the men assaulted Okoh and forced him into a VW Kombi and drove off with him.

“It is suspected that the suspects took him to Rosettenville,” he said.

Munyai said the complainant alleged that she requested information from his colleagues.

“She said his colleagues are scared to provide information. Police are requesting for anyone who might have information to come forward,” he said.

They can contact the investigating officer, Detective Constable Ismael Ngcoza, on 073 815 8663.
