Officers and staff from police stations across the Ekurhuleni West Cluster were dressed to impress at the cluster’s annual Excellence Awards at Carnival City last Friday.

Nominees eagerly waited to hear if their hard work throughout the year had been enough to clinch top spot in a number of different categories.

The master of ceremonies for the evening, Capt George Raphulu from the Germiston Police Station, opened the event with a joke and a word of welcome before handing over to Dennis Roro of the Honeydew Cluster to announce the awards.

Man and Woman of the Year went to Capt André de Jager from the Bedfordview Police Station and Ekurhuleni West Cluster communications coordinator and Sgt Nita Schade from the Primrose Police Station respectively, with Sgt Styles Maome from Primrose and Const Queen Sibeko from Germiston being named the first runners-up.

Alberton Police Station took the Station of the Year award, with the Katlehong North and Thokoza stations coming second and third in the category.
