Witnesses to Bedfordview hit-and-run urged to come forward
The incident took place on Saturday, January 21 at around 2pm on Van Buuren Road in front of the Hyundai car dealership.

SA Boys Against Crime founder Aida Farah is appealing to a hit-and-run suspect to come forward or any community member who witnessed the crime.

The incident took place, said Farah, on January 21 at around 2pm on Van Buuren Road in front of the Hyundai car dealership.

Farah said a woman in her late 60s had been hit by what her husband described as a red car.
She pointed out that the injured woman is known to stand at the mentioned corner selling coat hangers.
“I was the first to stop at the scene.
“She was with her husband at the time.
“We called the police and an ambulance,” explained Farah.
“A military ambulance drove by and stopped to assist.
“I would like to say thank you to their well experienced military paramedics.
“They made us really proud.”
Farah claimed that the Bedfordview SAPS only arrived at the scene an hour later.
The security company owner said the victim of the hit-and-run had been badly injured and was in hospital awaiting an orthopaedic surgeon.
Bedfordview SAPS spokesperson Captain André de Jager said there was no record of a case of negligent driving reported on the day.
“Nothing was registered on our system and no official docket was opened,” he said.
When questioned on allegations that police arrived an hour after being called to the scene he said, “I can’t confirm that any of our police attended the scene.”
