George Goch residents assisted after fire

A woman and her six-month-old baby lost their lives during the fire.

Jeppe SAPS, pastoral care, and Bienvenu Shelter assisted George Goch informal settlement residents with food parcels and clothes after numerous shacks were destroyed in a fire recently.

Jeppe SAPS spokesperson Captain Richard Munyai said more than 10 people lost their homes after their shacks were burnt down.

“Disaster management and Jeppe SAPS officers visited the informal settlement after a tragic incident.

“Pastoral care for migrants based in Bertrams, Jeppe SAPS and Bienvenu Shelter donated food parcels and clothes to the affected residents,” he said.

Munyai said a woman and her six-month-old baby lost their lives during the fire.

“The cause of the fire is unknown.

“A case of arson has been opened at Jeppe SAPS and police are investigating,” he said.
