Semi-finalist for Mrs South Africa from Edenvale

“The pageant works in such a way that it also empowers women and brings them together.”

Edenvale resident Moleboheng Thabane has been selected as a finalist for the Tammy Taylor Mrs South Africa Pageant.

Moleboheng, a wife and mother of two, was announced as a semi-finalist in March at Emperors Palace.

“When I was told that I would be a semi-finalist I was overwhelmed. I could not believe it,” said Moleboheng.

“This is the first pageant that I have ever entered. To be honest, I think I underestimated myself.”

Moleboheng’s decision to enter the pageant took form when she decided to do something for herself.

“As a mother and a wife it is pretty easy to lose focus on yourself, ” said Moleboheng.

When Moleboheng heard the pageant advertised on the radio she decided to enter.

Although she has no modelling or previous pageant experience, Moleboheng believes she has what it takes to become the next Mrs South Africa.

“I am a bit nervous but I know I will be fine as long as I focus on my strengths and what makes me unique.”

Moleboheng said the pageant appealed to her because it focuses on more than just beauty.

“The pageant works in such a way that it also empowers women and brings them together,” said Moleboheng.

One of the beneficiaries of the pageant is Women 4 Women, a non-profit organisation which focusses on uniting and strengthening women.

During her journey to the Mrs South Africa title, Moleboheng will raise funds for the NPO.

Moleboheng Thabane has been selected as a semi-finalist for the Mrs South Africa Pageant.

Funds will be raised by selling tickets to the pageant’s gala dinner.

In addition to assisting Women 4 Women, Moleboheng hopes to assist a charity in Edenvale.

One of the organisation Moleboheng hopes to help is the Don Mattera Child and Youth Care Centre (CYCC).

“Some charities in Edenvale have been overlooked. Many of the popular charities get a lot of attention,” said Moleboheng.

According to Moleboheng, the CYCC is one of the places in Edenvale which has been overlooked.

“When I visited the centre I realised the need for renovations to be done at Don Mattera.

“During my journey, I want to be able to give back and help where I can.”

If Moleboheng does win the pageant she said she would like to focus on improving the lives of young girls.

Moleboheng said girls need “good role models and somebody to look up to”.

She hopes to achieve this by hosting workshops for young girls where they will be taught manners and self-respect.

“I look at a lot of young girls and see them fighting or acting inappropriately,” explained Moleboheng.

“I want to help them become better members of society.”
