The Golden Years receive donations

JEPPE – As a new NGO, they might be in need of many things so we donated everything we had to them.

Jeppe SAPS Social Crime Prevention donated clothes to The Golden Years NGO on April 25.

Social crime prevention co-ordinator Sergeant Israel Lota said Bienvenu shelter and pastoral care in Bertrams offered blankets and clothes.

“I collected the clothes and blankets and decided to donate it to The Golden Years after I realised that they are making a difference in the community.

“The Golden Years is a new NGO. As a new NGO, they might be in need of many things so we donated everything we had to them,” he said.

Lota said social crime prevention works closely with the community.

“We are also building a better working relationship between residents and the police,” he said.

Nomsa Khumalo from the NGO said helping others out of the goodness of your heart bears good fruits.

“I’m always helping out in the community and I do that because I love helping others. I am very grateful for the donations and may they continue to donate to other organisations,” she said.

The Golden Years is based in Bertha Solomon Recreation Centre where they cook for elderly citizens.
