The Cleveland Community Police Forum (CCPF), in partnership with Cleveland SAPS, requested help from the community to establish a Youth Desk musical band.
Chairperson of the CCPF Godfrey Mothibe said they have already secured guitars, keyboards, lutes and a harmonica.
“We are pleading with residents or local businesses to donate their unused musical instruments.
“We call upon organisations in the community to allow their talented musicians to come forward and help in guiding and teaching the Youth Desk in establishing their dream,” he said.
Mothibe also pleads with local businesses to donate money in establishing the band.

“The money that will be donated will be used to pay the stipend to our local musicians who will assist our youth by grooming them to be musicians.
“We also request that some of our pensioners in our community come forward to share their expertise, skills and knowledge in these instruments and vocal expertise to help our youngsters,” he said.
Mothibe said the purpose of the music venture is to keep the youth from the street.
“I want to keep the youth away from any criminal activities, bad behaviour and bad conduct. That includes rape, drugs or physical abuse, alcohol abuse, smoking, early pregnancies, theft, assaults, gender-based violence, hijacking, break-ins and burglaries,” he said.
