Observatory Girls Primary School celebrated the school’s birthday on June 22 when parents and officials were invited.
The school turned 100 years old on March 4.
“We are happy as a school to share this joyous moment with parents and supporters of the school.
“We have come a long and we are grateful to have survived all the challenges,” said principal Makodi Tjeane.

She said over the years the school has changed but the key focus has always been on the education and well-being of the learners.
“As a school, we are not only concerned about the education but also about the well-being of the child. A happy healthy child will be interested in learning.
“We are a diverse school and we teach our learners to strive in diversity. We provide a small, stable and nurturing environment in which girls from diverse backgrounds can develop with confidence and joy,” said Tjeane.
She said as a school they are also grateful for the support they receive from the community and Sacred Heart College.

“We would like to thank Sacred Heart for the support that they have provided us over the years. It has made so much difference in our learners,” said Tjeane.
Parents were treated to some dancing and singing from the learners.
A plaque was unveiled to mark the 100 years.
