Jeppe Police Station was in the top 30 stations in the country for the highest murder rate with 125 cases reported.
The same station was also in the top 30 for attempted murder with the same number of cases of 125 cases.
According to the national SAPS crime statistics released earlier today, Jeppe SAPS showed a 42 per cent increase in the number of murders reported when comparing the 2017/2018 period to 2016/2017.

Truck hijacking also showed a significant increase of 150 per cent with five cases reported in the 2017/2018 year.

Rape decreased by 11.3 per cent with 86 cases reported in the most recent stats released compared to 97 cases reported in 2016/2017.
Hijacking of motor vehicle increased by 10.1 per cent with 262 cases reported in 2017/2018.
Robbery at residential premises decreased by 14.9 per cent with 80 cases reported in the most recent stats.
Burglary at residential premises also decreased by 22.7 per cent with 377 cases reported in 2017/2018 and 488 cases reported in 2016/2017.
Illegal possession of firearm and ammunition increased by 23.9 per cent and driving under the influence of alcohol also increased by 54.8 per cent.
