
Jeppe precinct showed a 42 per cent increase in a number of reported murders with 125 cases reported. This went up from 88 reported in 2016/2017 period.
Among the other crimes which showed an increase were common assault, car and truck hijacking and shoplifting. A decrease in crime was reported for sexual offences, rape, malicious damage to property, burglary at non-residential premises and commercial crime. A total of 86 cases of rape were reported and 262 cases were reported for carjacking. A further 111 cases were reported for commercial crime.
