Guest speakers are just one of the many activities present at the meetings.

Janet Brodrick, chairperson of the Bedfordview Association for the Elderly, said members meet every Thursday morning at 9am at the Bedfordview Library and pay a fee of R10.

Janet said the association have tables assigned to them and each table takes turns providing eats for the meetings.

“We do charity work and recently handed out 64 blankets during winter,” said Janet.

She said members also collect plastic tops and tags for wheelchairs from Interwaste to donate to those in need.

The association will have a week trip to Badplaas from November 4 to 11.

They will also have a Christmas lunch at Summer Place in Boksburg on December 13.

“On November 22 a charity we support, Emmanuel Mannaland, will give a presentation on their work,” said Janet.
