Fun for all at Firefighter Rescue Challenge

“Everyone had a good time and the rain didn’t have any impact on the day’s activities.”

Rain and cold weather could not dampen spirits at this year’s Firefighter Rescue Challenge.

The event hosted by Netcare to commemorate World Trauma Day (October 17) was held at South Africa Emergency Care (SAEC) in Modderfontein on October 20.

The challenge saw Emergency Medical Services (EMS) personnel and firefighters battle it out among each other while completing various rescue scenarios.

SAEC member Elmaré Liebenberg said the overall atmosphere at the event was wonderful.

The challenge saw personnel compete in individual and group challenges.

Victory was determined by how quickly the competitors completed the course.

Results of the individual category are as follows:

• Charles Baggett: 1.47

• Zwitani Nefuri: 1.48

• Stephan Henderson: 1.51

Results of the group category are as follows:

• Netcare Linksfield Hospital: 1.02

• Impala Platinum Rescue: 1.05

• Northview Destroyer: 1.08
