Jeppe High School for Boys announced its 2019 leaders.
Head boy for 2019 Liam Stott said he is looking forward to leading next year.
“I aim is to use next year to make sure the little things are taken care off. We had a good year, the first teams have all done well, we have had SA Schools and Gauteng hockey, rugby and water polo players and rowers, the pipe band has excelled and the cultural activities are all on track. We are thriving at the big things. It’s time now to look at the little ones,” said Stott.
He said every learner in the school has a role to play and not only those in the limelight.
“It’s great that we are doing well at the big things and the prominent boys at the school are happy and excelling. We need to also focus on the others. The boys who are not in the limelight are just as important to the school. I want them to be happy here, I want all of them to be excited about coming to school every day. We need to focus on mass participation and every one of them must be an enthusiastic supporter of the first team because they want to be,” said Stott.
He said he will be focusing on manners, discipline, good relationships, school spirit, and pride to generally create a happy school.
“When we excel in the little things, the big things will also be done well. There is a head boy every year. I want to be remembered for a long time by the boys who were at the school during my year. I want them, one day, to look back on 2019 as the highlight of their time at Jeppe and to see me as the best head boy they had during their school years,” said Stott.
Stott is a Renaissance man.
He is the top academic in his grade.
He plays first team rugby for the school and water polo for South Africa and he won an acting award in the inter-house plays.
He has leadership skills and has a clear vision for his year in office.
He said he’s looking forward to working with his two deputies, Matthew du Preez and Sibusiso Shongwe.
The school wishes the new leaders great success for the year ahead and have no doubt they will lead the school with integrity, honour and pride.
